This is one of our favorite restaurants. For us the quality of food is important, but when you have quality and the amazing staff, you get all what you need. Thank you for treating us everytime we visit you with these love, making us feeling like at home. Specially FAIZA, CHRISTINA, AISHA and of course your great shefs. You are the best. If you looking for great food, quantity and special and friendly atmosphere I can guaranteed you will find it in Gunes Restaurant. Celebrated my mum's birthday here and we was not disappointed at all. The waiters and waitresses were so kind and polite, especially 'Mehmet' shout out to him his service was amazing. Other than that as well I can say the food was absolutely delicious. We had such a positive experience here. I can definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!!
The lively atmosphere of Gunes really stood out. I popped in on a Saturday early evening for a post-cinema feed with no reservation. They had the music pumping and they rolled out the celebrations for somebody’s birthday, which was great to see. I started off with bread and salad, with some cold mezes. I went for the chicken wings, which were very well cooked - an easy one to mess-up. The service was very quick and on point, while the price was reasonable. Perhaps not quite the best Turkish I’ve ever been to, but it has to be up there for the other reasons stated.
We tried gunes for the first time. Picked up our food for Iftar and I can say it is one of the best Turkish food in east London. The flavours/ marination on the chicken wings was great. Fries were lovely and the borek was probably the best I’ve tried. Only thing they were slacking on is the Bread- it’s too thick and dry and has an aftertaste. We asked for seasoned bread but they forgot to give it- bread should be like capital, hala etc style. Asides that definitely go try it guys- Great food, lovely sauces and hummus is nice too.
Cristian was a lovely waitress. She helped us with the selection of the menu. She is patient and gracious with a big smile. Food was delectable. Well seasoned. The atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. We got complementary Turkish pastries with pistachio and some Turkish coffee. We will surely be back! Highly recommend 100%
